INNOVATION—JAT PAINTS
In Sri Lanka, Buddhists traditionally offer flowers at temple altars, and during busy festive seasons, millions of fresh flowers are discarded every day, just to make room for more. To give these discarded flowers a second life, we partnered with JAT Paints to create Petal Paint—a range of organic paints made from flower pigments. These paints were then donated to rural temples to restore fading temple art and sold in stores for devotees to use in their shrine rooms at home.
This project taught me early on that advertising can do more than just persuade; it can also be a force for good in society. As an intern, I was involved from the start, seeing firsthand how an idea is developed into a full-fledged innovation. With the rare chance to dedicate all my time to this project, I was able to dive deep into every aspect of the campaign—visiting flower collection sites, planning shoots, and overseeing temple art restorations. I also contributed to crafting the case studies and positioning them for the right award categories. Petal Paint went on to become one of Sri Lanka’s most awarded ad campaigns.
